1. Where are we talking from today?
A. Los Angeles, California
2. Where did you get your artist name from?
A. “Ritmo” means Rhythm in Spanish. I started as a rhythm guitarist when I was involved in
bands/groups. Naturally, after some collaborations, the name became my identity.
3. Music wise what are you working on right now? Are you currently promoting a single or
A. I actually just released my album ‘Affectivity’ this past 28th of April. It is currently
available on all platforms!
4. Who or what were the most significant influences on your musical life and career?
A. The most significant influences would be understanding the artists/bands I look up to and their desire/methods to grip their audience and deliver their message. I want to do exactly that but I want my audience to paint their own portraits to my music, and have an emotional reaction to it. Which is why I primarily make Instrumental music. I want every song to be an experience.
5. Who are your favorite musicians?
A. A few of my favorite musicians would include John Frusciante, David Gilmour, Munky, Tom Morello, and Chris Cornell.
6. What have been the greatest challenges/frustrations of your career so far?
A. The biggest challenges I’ve faced this year would be navigating the best possible directions for myself as an independent artist. As someone that is self-taught from the instruments, I play to the production of all my music from start to finish, knowing what direction to hone in on for your next move can be really difficult at times. Sometimes the direction we take as artists are the perfect ones and some leave us kicking ourselves wishing we went the other way. Despite the outcomes you have to continue forward and keep going no matter what. All gas pedal no brakes!
7. As a musician, what is your definition of success?
A. My personal definition of success is being an established and reputable artist that is involved in the TV&Film world and actively session as a musician for artists and producers of all calibers.
8. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A. My idea of perfect happiness is to be able to officially claim my passion that I have poured and bled myself into as my career, and share the experiences I create in my music with the world and all of the people that have supported me since the day I picked up my first guitar.
9. What is your present state of mind?
A. My present state of mind is calm, collected, and focused. My experiences here in LA, and the amazing individuals I have befriended have really shed light on new perspectives and practices in both my music career and personal life. I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone that I have naturally crossed paths with.
10. What is your most treasured possession?
A. My most treasured possession is my personal support system. All of my friends, family and loved ones that have supported me through all of the bang your head against the wall moments of contemplation and self debate are what I truly value most!
11. What do you enjoy doing most?
A. Other than daily practice jams, recording or whatever I’m working on at the time, I enjoy relaxing at home and hosting friends when we all have the chance to get together. I still work a full-time job that occupies me extensively M-F, so I try to get chill time in as much as possible, I think that’s important for everyone.
12. Where would you like to be in 10 years’ time?
A. In 10 years I would like to be well established in the industry and mentoring all of the up and coming artists that are facing the issues that I endured as an independent artist.
