Interview With Katy Stone

Where are we talking from today?

Holiday, Florida, about 45 minutes North of Clearwater on the Gulfcoast side.

What would you like to accomplish in 2020?

To purchase a house and put a music and recording studio in it. Also, to keep pushing our music while recording more songs. I enjoy seeing where this process is going.

What is your take on politics? More so than ever before, I follow what’s going on; I like to educate myself on the topics.

What has been the biggest surprise so far about making music your career? What has been an unexpected or welcome challenge to it all?

The biggest, and best, surprise to me is how good the songs sound after we record them. I love the magic of it all coming together. An unexpected and welcome challenge is learning how to promote myself as a musician while becoming a businesswoman at that same time. -It’s a jungle out there.

What was it like putting together your EP?

All of it has been wonderful and magical from the beginning up to this very moment. It’s the most satisfying thing to take a thought inspired by a feeling, emotion, or circumstance, and turn it into a tune on the piano or guitar, or visa versa..start with the tune then write lyrics to it. Then you build it up and add other instruments and musicians that you trust. Finding the right people to work with, too, is key. It’s the most important key.
