Interview With Desiree Million

Where are we talking from today?

We are talking from Alabama although I was born and raised near Detroit, Michigan.

Where did you get your artist’s name from?

My artist name is my real legal name. My last name is from a divorce I had when I was 20 years old. I was married to a bass player. We met in a band.

Music-wise what are you working on right now? Are you currently promoting a single or album?

I’m always writing a single, usually around one per month. I also am in a band called “The Reflectors” and we play some originals and wonderful music from the 80s era and beyond.

I stopped making albums because nobody buys music anymore. They just get it free on Youtube, etc. I have recorded about five albums worth of music. Most of them were in demo mode but I released a lot of them anyway but I think only one or two are still out there for sale. I have singles for sale here and there too.

Who or what were the most significant influences on your musical life and career?

Old country music, rock n roll, top 40 hits, artists from Motown. I was influenced a lot by Elton John, Linda Ronstadt, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, so many to mention, there are too many to mention. I kept my ears glued to the radio and loved a lot of everything I heard.

Who are your favorite musicians?

I don’t have any favorite musicians but I love the idea of bands getting together and keeping it together. So I admire bands like Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, the Who, Led Zeppelin. I admire their ability to stay together and keep going.

What have been the greatest challenges/frustrations of your career so far?

That I was never able to fully give 100% of my time to it. I always worked a full-time job and music was always on the back burner. During my spare time, I would write and record and join bands here and there or play solo.

As a musician, what is your definition of success?

Doing what you love, playing what you love, and not having to do it alone. I like the family feeling of a band.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Making it into Heaven – not being sent to the other place.

What is your present state of mind?

Happy and peaceful.

What is your most treasured possession?

My Holy Bible.

What do you enjoy doing most?

Watching YouTube videos, camping, singing, writing songs, talking to a friend/friends.

Where would you like to be in 10 years’ time?

Receiving royalty checks.

Where you @ online?
